Distretto militare di Orvieto
History and territorial extent
- Before 1877, the circondario of Orvieto was under the authority of the Distretto militare di Perugia.
- The Distretto militare di Orvieto was established in 1877 (l. 22 mar. 1877, n. 3750). It initially covered the circondario of Orvieto and the circondario of Viterbo (Lazio).
- In 1920, the district was redefined to include the circondari of Orvieto, Terni, and Rieti; Viterbo became a separate district (r.d. 13 mag. 1920, n. 607).
- The distrct was suppressed in 1956, its responsibilities transferred to the Distretto militare di Viterbo.
